Christmas and New Year posts for Indian businesses: a year-end plan that works
Christmas posts for business in India: a December plan for hotels, cafes and shops, with year end sale posts, New Year wishes for customers and timings.

By the second week of December the front desk is answering the same three questions on loop. Is the Christmas brunch open to outside guests? What is included in the New Year's Eve package? Are there rooms left for the 31st? The answers are all in your head and in a spreadsheet the manager made, but not on your Instagram, because the last post went up after Diwali. The guest who could not get an answer at 11 at night has already booked the resort across the lake.
Christmas posts for business in India are not about copying a Western holiday. They are about a fortnight when people take leave, families travel, offices close their books for the calendar year and everyone has a reason to celebrate. This guide gives you a December plan, with a table, post ideas for hotels and other businesses, and a few lines on doing it respectfully.
Why December is different for Indian businesses
December has two fixed dates you can plan around well in advance: Christmas on 25 December and New Year's Day on 1 January. Unlike Diwali or Eid, these do not move, so there is no excuse for being late.
The month also carries a few patterns worth knowing:
- Holiday travel. Schools close for winter break in many states, and families head to Goa, Kerala, Rajasthan, the hills and the North East. Hotels and travel agencies feel this first.
- Office parties and year-end dinners. Teams book restaurants and banquet halls for the last two weeks.
- Year-end shopping. Some shoppers wait for year-end clearance; others buy gifts for Christmas or for the New Year.
- Real faith, real communities. For Christians in India, Christmas is a religious festival, with Advent, carol services and Midnight Mass. It is celebrated widely in Kerala, Goa, Mumbai, Tamil Nadu, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya and many other places. Treat it with the same care you give Diwali or Eid.
A December plan you can copy
Here is a rhythm for the five weeks from late November to the first days of January. It is written for a hotel, but most of it works for a cafe, a bakery, a restaurant or a shop.
| When | Post | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Late November | Christmas and New Year's Eve plans announced | Catch early planners and office bookings |
| First week of December | Office party and group booking post | Teams book early |
| Second week | Christmas menu or hamper post | Give people something to choose |
| Second week | Holiday timings and booking deadline | Saves calls, gentle urgency |
| 20 to 23 December | Behind the scenes: decorating, baking, the team | Warmth and trust |
| 24 December | Christmas Eve post, if you host an event | Last call for bookings |
| 25 December | Christmas greeting, no hard sell | Goodwill |
| 26 to 30 December | New Year's Eve countdown, year end sale posts | Final selling window |
| 31 December | "Thank you for this year" | Gratitude, brand memory |
| 1 January | New Year wishes for customers | Fresh start |
| 2 to 5 January | "Back to regular timings", January plans | Keeps the page alive |
If you also plan the rest of the year, our hotel social media content calendar covers the wedding season, summer holidays and monsoon packages.
Christmas posts for business: ideas for hotels and resorts
A hotel has more to say in December than at any other time. A few ideas, each one post:
- The Christmas brunch or dinner. One picture of the table, the date, the price per person if you share it, and how to book. Mention whether children have a separate price.
- Cake mixing or plum cake. Many Indian hotels hold a cake mixing tradition in November, and bake plum cakes for December. If you do, show it. If you sell cakes to take home, say so.
- The room package. "Two nights over Christmas, with breakfast and a lake-view room." Keep it to one package per post.
- New Year's Eve. What is included, the dress code if there is one, whether it is a family or adults-only evening, and the last date to book.
- The team. A post introducing the chef, the housekeeping team decorating the tree, or the staff who will be working on the 25th while everyone else celebrates. Guests like seeing the people.
- Practical posts. Check-in times, parking, whether outside guests can come for the brunch, the cancellation rule.

For a made-up hotel like The Lakeview Residency in Udaipur, December could move from "the New Year's Eve dinner on the terrace is open for bookings" to "lake-view rooms over Christmas" to "a quiet New Year's Day breakfast". Each post answers one question a guest is already asking.
Christmas offer posts India: shops, cafes and everyone else
You do not need to be a hotel to post in December. Some December marketing ideas by business type:
- Bakeries and cafes: plum cake pre-orders with a last date, a Christmas cookie box, a hot chocolate special.
- Gift and toy shops: a gift guide by age or budget, Secret Santa ideas for office teams, gift wrapping.
- Fashion and jewellery: party wear for New Year's Eve, a gift for the year-end, last date for alterations.
- Electronics and mobile shops: gifts for the family, the year-end exchange offer if you run one.
- Clinics, CA firms, coaching institutes: a greeting, holiday timings, and a calm "plan your new year" post. For CA firms, a reminder to check the current due dates for any year-end filings, without giving advice.
- Restaurants: office party packages, the Christmas Eve menu, New Year's Eve seating. Our restaurant Instagram post ideas has more.
A few rules for Christmas offer posts in India:
- One offer per post, with an end date.
- Real offers only. If you do not discount, offer a gift box, free delivery or a complimentary dessert instead.
- Keep the greeting separate. The 25th is for wishing people well. Put the sale on the days around it.
Year end sale posts without the shouting
Year end sale posts work best when they explain why. "We are making room for the new year's stock" is honest and believable. "Mega year-end blast" is noise.
Good year-end posts:
- The last week of the sale, with the final date clearly on the image.
- What is included, in one line. "Winter wear and last season's footwear", not a list of thirty items.
- What is not included, so nobody is disappointed at the counter.
- Your timings on the 31st and the 1st, because many shops close early or open late.
New Year wishes for customers, and doing Christmas respectfully
The New Year's Day post is often the most shared post of the season, because it has no religion attached and everyone can send it on. Keep it short:
- "Thank you for every visit this year. See you in the new one."
- "A new year, the same warm welcome. Happy New Year from all of us."
- "Here is to a year of good food, good company and good news."

For Christmas greetings, simple and sincere works best:
- "Wishing you a peaceful and joyful Christmas."
- "May your home be full of warmth this Christmas."
A few things to keep in mind:
- Respect the faith. Santa, stars, trees, cakes and lights are part of how Christmas is celebrated in India and are fine in a business post. Religious imagery, such as the nativity or a church, belongs in a greeting, not next to a discount.
- Do not over-claim. If your business does not celebrate Christmas in any way, a plain greeting is enough. You do not need a Santa costume.
- Language. A Malayalam, Konkani, Tamil or Hindi line can make your greeting feel local. If you write in a language you do not speak well, ask someone who does to check it. Our guide to Hindi captions for business posts helps with the Hindi side.
- No photos of children at your Christmas party unless the parents have given written consent.
How Content365 handles December, and every other month
The reason Christmas posts for business go missing is simple: December is when you are busiest. Content365 makes the whole year before the rush.
You give us your brand: business name, logo, website and a few details. You get 365 finished posts, one for every day of the year, for ₹3,999 including GST, for the whole year and not per month. Indian festivals and the financial year are planned into the calendar on the days they fall, so Christmas on 25 December and New Year's Day on 1 January arrive on the right days, along with Diwali, Holi, Eid and the rest.
Every post is a 1080 x 1350 image with a square-safe centre, ready for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X and WhatsApp. An image model paints a scene with no text in it, and the studio's compositor places your real logo, business name, phone, website and call to action on top, using the exact text you gave. Captions are written for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and X, plus one in your own language (Hindi, Tamil, Bengali and 9 more), every day.
Because the year is built from 365 angles across 21 angle families, your Christmas post does not look like your Republic Day post with a different colour. Near-duplicate pictures are rejected, and every picture is checked by a vision model with up to three tries per day; a day that never passes still arrives, with a visible warning.
We do not post on your pages. You review every day in your own gallery first, add your brunch price or New Year's Eve details to a caption if you want, and you or your team post them. If you run more than one property, every extra brand is the same ₹3,999 including GST; see pricing for the details.
Frequently asked questions
When should a hotel start Christmas and New Year posts?
In late November. Office teams and families plan December early, and New Year's Eve packages often fill before the middle of the month. Christmas is usually on 25 December and New Year's Day on 1 January, so there is no reason to start late.
Is it fine for a non-Christian business to post Christmas wishes?
Yes. A sincere, simple greeting is welcome. Keep religious imagery respectful and away from offers, and do not pretend to traditions you do not follow.
What should I post on 31 December?
A thank-you to your customers for the year, plus your timings for the evening and the next day. If you host a New Year's Eve event, a last-call post in the morning works well.
Should I run a year-end sale?
Only if you have a real reason, such as clearing stock before new arrivals. Say why, give an end date, and keep it separate from your Christmas greeting.
Does Content365 include Christmas and New Year in the calendar?
Yes. Indian festivals, Christmas, New Year's Day and the financial year are planned into the calendar on the days they fall. You review them in your gallery and post them yourself.
