By ten in the morning the counter is three deep. A plumber wants half-inch elbows and a ball valve, a contractor's helper is reading a list off his phone, and a homeowner is asking whether you have the same wash basin her neighbour bought. Your best stock, the new wall-hung commodes and the matte black taps, is sitting in the back showroom where nobody walks. You know you should put it on Instagram and WhatsApp. You also know that by evening you will be checking the day's credit book, not making posts.

That is why most hardware shop marketing ideas never leave the owner's head. This guide is for hardware stores, sanitaryware showrooms, plumbing and electrical counters and paint shops that want a plan simple enough to keep, even in the busiest weeks.

Who you are really talking to

A hardware counter has two kinds of customers, and your posts should speak to both.

The trade. Plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, contractors and site supervisors. They buy often, they buy in quantity, and they recommend a shop to the homeowner. They care about stock availability, rates for the trade, quick billing and delivery to site.

The homeowner. A family building a new house, renovating a bathroom or repainting before a wedding or Diwali. They visit a few times, ask many questions, and are often guided by the plumber or contractor. They care about how things look, what lasts, and whether you will help when something leaks.

Plumbing store social media that only shows product boxes speaks to neither. A post that says "Full range of CPVC fittings in stock, site delivery available" speaks to the trade. A post that shows a calm, finished bathroom and says "Plan your bathroom renovation with us" speaks to the homeowner. You need both, on different days.

Hardware shop marketing ideas for every day of the week

Here is a weekly rhythm that suits a typical hardware and sanitaryware counter. It alternates between trade and homeowner posts so neither group feels ignored.

DayPost ideaWho it is for
MondayStock in for the week: pipes, fittings, cement toolsTrade
TuesdayOne product in focus: a basin, a mixer tap, a shower panelHomeowner
WednesdayHow-to or tip: choosing the right tap, why a stop valve mattersBoth

Post the same picture on WhatsApp Status, your Facebook page and Instagram. Many contractors will see your Status before they ever open Instagram, and they forward it to clients.

This sample comes from our library's made-up upholstered furniture store, so it is not a hardware post, but a clean product scene with one line and your shop name is exactly the kind of Tuesday post that makes a homeowner walk into the showroom asking for "that one".

Sanitaryware showroom posts that bring families in

Sanitaryware showroom posts work best when they help a family imagine the finished room, not when they list model numbers.

  • Small bathroom, big feel. Wall-hung commodes, compact basins and glass partitions for flats where every inch counts.
  • Bathroom for elders. Grab bars, anti-skid tiles, higher seats and lever taps that are easy to use.
  • Matching set. Basin, tap, shower and accessories in one finish, so the bathroom looks planned.
  • Water-saving fittings. Dual-flush cisterns and aerator taps, explained plainly without claims you cannot back up.
  • Kitchen sinks. Single or double bowl, stainless steel or quartz, what suits Indian cooking.
  • Geyser season. Sizes, wall space and safety basics before winter.
  • Before you tile. A reminder to fix the concealed fittings and diverter first.
  • Visit the showroom. Your address, parking, timings, and that you will help pick a set within budget.

Bathroom fittings marketing is also about trust after the sale. A post that says "Leaking tap? Bring the cartridge, we will match it" tells families you stand behind what you sell. It costs nothing, and it is the kind of message a neighbour forwards.

Avoid putting other companies' logos on your pictures. Show the product type and name the brands you stock in the caption. Your shop's own name and logo should be the only logo on the image.

Paint shop Instagram ideas and the colour calendar

If you sell paint, your busiest weeks are easy to predict: before Diwali, before weddings, and after the monsoon. Paint shop Instagram ideas that work:

  • Colour of the week. One calm shade, shown on a wall, with the shade name in the caption.
  • Interior or exterior. What is different about the two, said simply.
  • Waterproofing before the rains. Roof and wall treatments in April and May.
  • How much paint do I need? Ask customers to bring room sizes, and offer to calculate.
  • Tools and primers. Rollers, tapes, putty and primer: the things families forget.
  • Painter on call. If you know reliable painters, say you can connect them.

A season-by-season plan for a hardware counter

Your year follows building, monsoon and festival seasons. Diwali usually falls in October or November, and the wedding season varies by region: check the current year's dates before planning offers.

SeasonWhat is happeningPost ideas
January to MarchBuilding season, financial year end for contractorsBulk rates for the trade, new stock, site delivery, year-end account reminders
April to MaySummer, pre-monsoon repairsWaterproofing, roof tanks, pipes and pumps, terrace fittings
June to SeptemberMonsoonLeak fixes, drainage, rainwater pipes, damp-proofing, electrical safety in the rains
September to NovemberFestival repainting and renovationPaint, new taps and lights, bathroom upgrades before guests arrive
November to FebruaryWedding season, winterGeysers, room heaters if you stock them, quick bathroom refreshes
All yearLocal tradeThank-you posts for plumbers and electricians, new arrivals, timings

Vishwakarma Puja is a natural day to thank the craftspeople who keep your counter busy; its date also varies by region and year, so check before you plan. Our Diwali post ideas cover the festive weeks in more depth.

Make the posts look like your shop

A few simple rules make your posts work harder.

Shop name and number on every post. When a plumber forwards your Status to a client, your number must travel with it.

One message per post. "New matte black taps in stock" is a post. Putting taps, pipes, paint and a Diwali discount on one picture means nobody reads any of it.

Use the language of the counter. Many of your trade customers prefer Hindi or the local language. A Hindi caption often gets more replies than an English one.

Be careful with prices. Rates for pipes and fittings change. If you post a rate, say how long it is valid. Better still, ask people to call or WhatsApp for today's rate.

Do not promise what you cannot deliver. If site delivery is only within your town, say so.

If you also sell cement, steel and tiles, our guide for building materials dealers goes further into contractor-focused posts. And if you work with designers on showroom fit-outs, the interior designer content guide has ideas you can share with them.

How Content365 gives your counter a post for every day

Content365 makes 365 branded posts for your shop, one for every day of the year, for ₹3,999 including GST. That is the price for the whole year for one brand, not a monthly fee. A second shop with its own name is the same ₹3,999 including GST. See pricing for the details.

  • A ready picture for every day. Each post is one 1080 x 1350 (4:5) image with a square-safe centre, ready for WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and X.
  • Your real shop name, logo and number. An image model paints a scene with no text in it: a bathroom, a tool wall, a freshly painted room. The studio's compositor then places your real logo, business name, phone, website and call to action on top, from the exact text you gave. The logo is never redrawn by the model.
  • Captions every day, plus Hindi. Captions are written for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and X, plus a Hindi caption.
  • Festivals and the financial year planned in. Indian festivals and the financial year are planned into the calendar on the days they fall, so the Diwali repainting post and the year-end post are ready on time.
  • Variety through the year. 365 angles across 5 lenses make 1,825 concepts in 21 angle families, mixed across the year. Near-duplicate pictures are rejected.
  • Checked before you see them. A vision model checks every picture for stray text and problems, with up to 3 tries per day. A day that never passes still arrives, with a visible warning.

You look at each day in your own gallery first. We do not post on your pages: you or your counter staff put up the Status and posts. Everything comes in one download folder with all pictures, captions.csv, prompts.csv, calendar.csv and a gallery that opens on any phone. Hosting lasts 90 days from payment, then ₹3,000 a year before GST, or keep the folder.

These hardware shop marketing ideas work whether you make the posts yourself or let the year come ready. Want to try first? The free plan gives you 2 posts for your brand every 48 hours, with no payment. Sign in with Google to start free, or look at the yearly plan for your shop.

Frequently asked questions

What should a hardware shop post on WhatsApp Status?

Stock that has just arrived, one product in focus, site delivery details, trade counter hours and simple tips. Keep one message per picture and always include your shop name and number, because contractors forward these to clients.

How do I market a sanitaryware showroom to families?

Show finished bathrooms and kitchens rather than boxes, explain choices in plain words (small bathrooms, fittings for elders, matching sets), and invite families to visit with their room size. After-sale help, like matching a spare part, builds trust.

Should I post prices of pipes and fittings?

Only if you can say how long the price holds. Rates change often, so many shops ask people to call or WhatsApp for today's rate instead.

Can I show other brands' products in Content365 posts?

The pictures show product types without brand logos, and your shop's logo is the only one placed on them. You can name the brands you stock in your captions.

Does Content365 post for my shop?

No. Nothing posts by itself. You review each day in your gallery and post it yourself, on WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook or wherever your customers are.

Give your counter a daily presence

Contractors and families both choose the shop they remember. A post every day keeps your name on their phone between visits. Get the whole year for ₹3,999 including GST and let the showroom speak while you run the counter.
